Generating cold has never been more efficient - with free cooling operation and 100% redundancy.

The goal:

  • Optimally energy-efficient cooling generation for production
  • Construction of a refrigeration control centre for fail-safe cooling supply
  • 100 % redundant
  • Execution as general contractor
  • Completion within 8 months

Our solution:

  • Heat recovery from oil cooling
  • Use of a heat pump for simultaneous heating and cooling generation
  • Free Cooling Operation
  • Use of water chillers with 5 MW
  • Refrigeration circuits with +6°/+12° for air conditioning
  • Refrigeration circuits with +10°/+16° for process cooling
  • Use of hybrid coolers with a re-cooling capacity of 7 MW, which are used for free cooling in winter
  • Additional heat pump with 400 kW heat output for air dehumidification

The data:

  • 5 chilled water units with a capacity of 1 MW each in the final expansion
  • 5 hybrid coolers with a capacity of 1.4 MW each in the final expansion
  • 2 cold buffer tanks of 10 m³ each
  • 1 heating buffer of 15 m³
  • 1 heat pump with 400 kW heating capacity or
  • 270 kW cooling capacity
  • 1 ventilation system for the extraction of ammonia in
  • case of an accident
  • Complete electrical installations and measuring and control instrumentation
  • Establishment of the building by i+R Schertler as subcontractor
